1983 GPZ1100 help PLEASE

just when I thought I was geting to know a little something about all the different Kaw 900/1000's. I have to go buy a 1982 GPz1100 motor [only]....lol
The srl# on the motor is..... KZT10BE024338.
I bought the motor ONLY but it was supposed to be a complete running motor.....NOT!
Got ripped 'again'..off flea bay.
My local dealer will not give me any information from the srl# because he thinks I will take that info and purchase used parts instead of NEW ones from them. [he's right]
Many thanks to the folks here. I have found out that mine is a 1983, and my Zedder CD is on its way.
The parts I am looking for are :
1...IGNITION HOUSING
2...PULSE COVER
3...PULSE UNIT
4...IGNITER
5...BOLT
IN CASE I HAVE REFFERED TO AN ITEM INCORRECTLY [by name]
Basically I am looking for everything from the cases out in what we used to call the points housing.

It´s a GPz 1100 engine alright, not an 82 but an 83 according to Zedder.com (bottom of the page).
This is not a bad thing, the 82 is rated 109 Hp, the 83 is rated 120 Hp (both at the crank).

The 83 Gpz was the first of the 1100 UniTraks - it´s also known as a ZX1100-A1 which is what you should look for at buykawasaki.

The only thing I'd add to OnkelB's comments is that you should avoid your local dealer as this information is no longer proprietary...failure to aid you sounds much like greed, hell, most dealers won't touch a bike/motor that old :laugh:

did u try to look up the serial # at z1 enterprizes?

Thanks george .I did not know that.B)I recalled that Steve had serial #'s listed for all the kz's and thought that would help.I just looked there and he has listings for all kz's but no gpz's.

'83-'84 also uses the 18mm wrist pins so be mindfull if/when ordering pistons:cheer: Luckily it also comes factory with Shim-under-tappets.
