need opinions was created by kzluke750
I tried to search for any answers but no luck. And since I know how we like to toss our opinions around I thought I'd ask the experienced folks here at KZrider. Anyway I'm thinking about buying a 4 into 1 Vance and Hines for my 80 750 LTD. Do you guys have any advice such as performance gains, sound, reliablity etc? I am aware that I'll need to play with my jetting and probably go with pod air filters. Thanks in advance.

K&N makes a filter/jet kit for most bikes.
These work very well with the Vance and Hines headers.

I have the V&H 4 into 1 on my '81 KZ750H2 LTD and I have been very happy with it. I think the finish is great and the sound from the pipe is nice. I don't miss the stock exhaust sound, weight or lack of ground clearence.
As for pods and re-jetting, my bother-in-law has the same pipe on his '80 KZ750H1 LTD and did not re-jet. The bike runs and rides well enough for him and doesn't appear to be too lean. He wasn't looking for performance gains though.
I also have yet to re-jet and plug color looks good and the bike runs well. I have other issues with my 750 (idle problems) that I am trying to track down. They appear to be electrical though.
I ask about pods and the pipe in the carb forum a while ago and WG said 1.5 turns out for the air screw, 70 secondary and 140 mains, I think.
Here is a link to my idle question. It has video of the bike running and revving with the V&H pipe.

This is what WG actually said or wrote:

To rejet your bike for pods/pipes with N01A jet needle which provides a relatively lean mid-range compare to the other type of CV34, use #70 main jets and #140 secondary main jets (these are the real main jets; your stockers should be #125s I think and the main jets affect mid-range... these are the little fat barrel shaped jets; your stockers are #62s). There are no pilot jets alternatives. Run the mix screw 1.5 turns out to start with from lightly seated.

Thanks for your input guys. I'm not excactly looking for performance/horsepower. Sounds like it's worth the investment.
