6-pack in pieces.. was created by gulag
Hi gang,, just thought you might find it intresting to see how the process is coming along with my z1300..

Engine is out, and in pieces, a bit of old dirty oil in there but looks surprisingly good, bearings, pistons etc..
I am going to port and polish the head, and it is tempting to do the same with the pistons and the rods,, ill see about that one..
I want to be able to adjust the timing on the cams, so i might machine the cams down and install adjustable sprockets, (original is machined in 1 piece, cam+sprocket)

well,, pics on my website for those intrested..
have a good one !!

Good luck Gulag. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. How long do you plan on this project taking?

Hey Man,
I looked at those coils and said NO WAY! Then I looked at your gas tank, Yeah that'll work.

Check out ZI Enterprises for any small parts you might need, valve seals etc.

I just picked up a spare head on E-Bay. When I tore it down I found it to be in really good shape. I'm just going to polish it up and put it back together. I'll use it as a spare heading for a whole spare engine.

I'm a bit of a 1300 nut, I've got two of them.

Thanks for the pics.

Hi gang,, thanks for the pep-talk ;)

I am actually a motorcycle mechanic, graduate of MMI, motorcycle mechanics institute since 1992, I have worked on various high performance bikes and cars over the years so Im not a total noob to the game ;);)
Im not working as a mech but I still love the game..

About the body/frame, Im not quite sure where to go with that one, I am even considering painting the engine kawasaki green !!! :D and the tank and fenders as well,, but its only an idea. I am definatly going to put a wide rear rim under, 10" preferably, and stretch the front forks a bit, not too much though..

the engine work will hopefully be finished in a couple of months, fram work, hmm, I dont know, the swing arm / rim work will take some time.. well see :)
I am taking the engine block to be glass blasted next week,
