Hey Guys,
I found a bike that was built way back when and the guy told me that he thought it was a 1978 1000.But on further investigation i took the serial # from the motor and it read Z1E01962 BUT I COULDN,T GET THE FRAME BECAUSE OF THE JUNK PILED UP AROUND IT.The person tried to make it into a chopper back then and it was left in bad shape, but could this bike be a orignal 1973 first production? He wants 500.bucks for her.Tommorow i will go back and see if i can turn it over..If you guys know that this bike is a 1973 modle please let me know....Thanks Mike

If that engine number is correct it's a 73 motor. The engines are interchangeable between the Z1, KZ900 and 77-80 KZ1000 frames, so the frame could be anything.
