stuck engine
10 Jun 2007 13:42
i found this old bike that had been sitting in a garage for years. trouble is, the motor is stuck. i filled it with wd-40 and let it sit. no luck. anyone know of any tricks i could try short of disassembly? everything else seem to be in order.

If it's the pistons that are stuck, and it may not be, I've had good luck with ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil and PATIENCE. Letting it sit for a week helps a lot. Put in 2nd gear and rock gently to free up. You don't want to force it or you'll end up ith more trouble...

Might also try PB BLASTER which is specially formulated to loosen rusted bolts and fasteners. Not saying it's any better than those already suggested, but it works well. Would let it penetrate for a few days, and replenish daily. If doesn't break loose, allow it to soak a few more days.

a heat gun and some caution.
If you'll warm the outter area of the cylinders around the middle of the jugs and let the cylinders expand while the oil works down. a few times of this warm then cool then warm treatment should help!

Diesel thats all you need, let it sit over night or longer. Try it.

the trans fluid did the trick. let it soak overnight and presto. moves freely. a good tip guys, thanks. it still seems to have decent compression too.
