Was just reading another post when I came across a term 'sunken exhaust guide'. What might this mean and what might the problems be associated with this? Thanks.

Yeah, I guessed that, but if the guide isn't markedly out of place, would that have a negative effect on performance? My reasoning being that what holds the valve in place are the springs/keepers and the stem is relatively long. Can the valve guide be slightly placed differently and still function?

EDIT: and yeah, Steve, it was from your discussion... and if you haven't guessed, I also have a sunken guide:)

I would want to find out why it has moved, if it goes down that much it can gauld on the bottom of the valve, heat transfer plus the gulde being too far down in the heat path

Sounds like the clip came off and letting the guide drop.

As for running them slightly low, no problem. Our guides are made to sit 1 mm lower in the head so that no mater what cams you run, you will not get retainer to valve seal interference.

but i already sent it out and are having oversized guides installed.

damm! bigger valves?
now i need some porting work done!

now do we all see the money pit as i do?

the quest for more power is a mighty mistress!
