BS help needed. . .

. . .now that I have your attention.

The only thing in common with a KZ is that it has a battery, tires, and an engine. Which is what I need help with.

Here is the sorry thing before I bought the expensive battery and blew up the motor:

I know, I know, you are saying by now, "what does this freaky looking thing have to do with a KZ?"

Well, without a service manual, I don't know what the spec is supposed to be on the main journal. I don't have one. But maybe someone out there in KZ land has some access to help me.

It's a Briggs & Stratton 12 horseposwer.

Model number:
281707

Type:
0144-01

Code:
87102411

The only thing I got from the non-helpful ACE small engine guy was that he thinks I need to buy one of his shortblocks for $380.00, because it's a 20 year old motor.

Well, golly, I have a 30 year old 650 motor that runs just fine, thankyouverymuch.

Wasn't much trash in the pan for 20 years. I can get another aluminum connecting rod.

I just need to know what minimum main journal should be at this point.

Thanks in advance.

The last one I killed, by the time I looked at all the parts I needed, crank, rod, piston ,rings, gaskets, it was cheaper to buy a short block ready to go, not to mention the time to rebuild it

The main is the end that has all the aluminum transfer on it. Once I use muratic acid to clean off the aluminum, I need to measure it.

The small end (wrist pin and piston) are fine.

I need to see if the crank is within salvage.

Thanks
