Hey all-
Need some input here..
Got an 82 650 that was making an awful groaning sound when I tried to start it. Rebuilt the starter clutch and the first few times I tried it the bike turned over great. Didn't start though...ran into other problems.
Anyhow, after several attempts the bike started making the groaning noise again and I don't think the engine is turning over. Did I do something wrong or does God rally hate me?

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Did you replace the one-way (the outer part the rollers and springs go into) or just the rollers? I replaced one on a project 650 and replaced the entire assembly since the one-way was worn.
From the way the one I took off looked, the one-way was softer metal than the rollers and wore while the rollers were still fairly true.

Your exacly right, I replace the rollers, springs and the little spring caps. I thought that since these were serviceable parts, that's all I'd need. DOH!
I don't mind doing the job again but I don't want to do it a third time.
Thanks for the info.
