Oil cooler capacity

I just got a derale oil cooler for my kz900. When I put it on should I add more oil to my crankcase for the amount that will be in the cooler? Should I prime the cooler full of oil before I first start it somehow? If I add more can I still use my sight glass somehow? I know, I know a lot of questions.:P

My cooler, also a Derale does not hold much fluid overall. I just use the site glass when changing oil. Start her up for a bit, turn her off and check again.

My engine calls for 3.5 litres of oil, and that's just about what I use, even with a filter change.
