No oil pressure ???

I just built my KZ700 engine after it spun a rod bearing and now there's no oil pressure. The oil pressure light is on below 4k rpm and we tried putting another oil pump in it and now the light is on solid. I tried taking out the oil sending unit and no oil comes out of the hole when turning the engine over. What else could it be?

Is there a way to maybe "prime" the oil pump or something.... I just put the pump in and fired the bike up seen it had no pressure and shut it off (dont want to run it with out oil pressure)

Take the spark plugs out and spin it over with the starter, if the light don't go out in a few seconds then you have a problem.

Did you clean out the oil passages?

The main cause of spun bearings is lack of lubrication.

if you look in the manuel you will find the specs for the oil pump.
also check to see that the relief valve is not stuck open

What exactly do you do with the relief valve? I think I found it and it has a ball bearing thing in it. Is this it?

Well I figured out the no oil pressure problem!:) When I tore the original motor apart I found a ball bearing, spring, washer, and cir clip in the oil pan well I didnt think anything about and on the new motor I used the same oil pan!!! It just turns out that those 4 things are the insides of the relief valve!!! Well now I know why my original motor spun a rod bearing!!!

THX EVERYONE YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN EXTREMLY HELPFUL TO ME!

Mark meant check clearances by using a feeler guage to see how much clearance is there between the teeth of the gears in the pump and the wall these teeth contact in the pump. Also the teeth contact clearnce between the teeth of both gears. But good to see you found your problem.
