KZ 1100 Exhaust questions

My son is now the proud owner of a new project bike, a 1978 KZ 1000. (It's build date is 3 months later than my own 78 KZ 1000). He's going to need a full exhaust system for this and if memory serves correctly, KZ 900, 1000, 1100, can all use the same exhaust. (Mine has a black set off of a KZ 1100 on it) While looking around today, we found a 1981 KZ 1100 that still had the full exhaust system on it. It was a shaft drive not a chain drive. Here's my questions: Were all KZ 1100's (1981 and earlier) shaft drive? If not, do the chain drive 1100's and shaft drive 1100's use the same exhaust?
