Took my pan off PICS
06 May 2007 21:03
I finally got my pan off and found some goodies in it. The sludge wasn't so bad and it cleaned up nice.

The second pic are the parts I found in the pan. I always wondered where that chunk of cam cover gasket went a few years back.

if you want to really see some crap, next time put the gunk and parts on white paper towel and spray it with brake clean to wash away the oil. hopefully chunks of aluminum wont start looking up at you:pinch:

Man it took me about a half hour just to break it loose. I took a scrubby pad to it to get the gasket off so it only took about an hour! The gasket leftovers on the bottom of the motor came right off. Not too bad there. I did sling a little gasket remover into my eye and that was fun. Other than that it was another day cleaning up a 28 year old motor.
