do you mean 1075 with head work vs a 1200 with no head work?

Here's the standard answer you will probably get. Bigger is better, but if you want a great reliable street engine go with the 1075. With the 1200 you may have to start thinking about better braking, frame support etc. etc. I don't know, I'm going with a 1075 myself because I live in hell, oops I mean Arizona.

I currently have a fairly hoped up 1200 that has almost 13000 miles on it with no ill effects. It still puts out 139 rwhp the same as when it was fresh. On the other hand I also have a 1105 that needed to be re-ringed at around 15000 miles. Probably due to the thinner sleeves. Bottom line is to make sure you have plenty of sleeve to keep things in check and remember no aircooled bike likes to sit in traffic. As far as performance you cant beat the 1200 compared to the 1105 (139 rwhp vs 109 rwhp) but it also costs more to build. I haven't seen any dynos with a 1075 but i assume they are around what a 1105 makes at the wheel.

I am new here but I've had several big bore kits over the years. With a ported head with stock 36mm and 30mm valves, the light 900 crank, the 1075 is a blast.Go with
a Cometic graphite head gasket, look untill you find one,
and you will not be dissapointed.

it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.the biggest thing i like about the 1197 besides the fact its big:evil: is that you can build a milder motor with smaller cams and less compression than the 1075 and make the same if not more power and it will be drivable compared to a 1075 with a lot extra stuff the 1197 doesnt need.not to mention torque is what you really need on a streetbike but you can always put a 900 crank in there if ya want a torque monster that will wind to the stars. ;) this motor is still sitting in a corner waiting to be put in something else.it has a welded 900 crank with some high compression 1197 pistons a mildly ported wireman special head with stock valves and a set of early 28s,it had 435 cams but i changed them to smaller cams cant remember what they are.it was scarrrrrrrrrrrrrry fast ive got no doubt it would smoke my 1327 in the 1/8 with the lighter crank and the gearing, after the 1/8 mile 1327 would pull past it though ;)
