1982 CSR1000.... Rare?

Hi guys.
I have a chance to pick up an 82 CSR1000 for cheap. The owner says it's rare is this true?
Can you tell me the differences between the LTD,CSR and the Kz engines?
I searched and found that the frames of the LTD and CSR look the same.

Any info would be great.

Thanks ;)

Rare? Not hardly :)

CSR and LTD motors are the same, with the exception of the tach drive on the CSR.
The J (Standard) has better cams and carbs that give it 102 hp vs 92 hp for the CSR and LTD.

The CSR is just a cheaper version of the LTD.

KZ1000M = CSR
KZ1000K = LTD
KZ1000J = Standard

All the 998 cc KZ1000 motors are called J motors.

Thanks steel. ;) Is that rear wheel HP?
Can I assume that parts off of an LTD of the same year would interchange? Do you know the years that were the same?

Tell me more Steell or Stein. I like to hear stories of my bike, the history. Is there any link to read this stuff?Also to our friend cnyl, that bike isn't too rare. I got my ltd for like 750, since the owner was desperate to get the money, and why would you want to change the wheels? I mean, I dont like spokes either, but the bike is best left as it is, the way it was born( dont mind my LTD blue paint job, its going back black soon)

Nope I have a LTD, very powerful bike. You should check the gallery for those people like CSR mike, machine and someone I can't remember right now..... Grantl! The first day I got my LTD I rode it home with a friend following me part ways to make sure I can handle the bike, plus the road was slippery from some chemical they put on the road to snow proof it so I was scared and no helmet. Rode a bicycle to work and rode a motorcycle home, all because my 650 wasn't working.

I could be wrong,but my friend had a csr1000
last year.The engine looked exactly the same
as a 1000j,electric tach and all.Mikuni 34 cv
carbs.It might have had a smaller rear sprocket
than the J model but still felt like the same
seat of pants HP.
