kz750 1977 pushes hard
26 Apr 2007 13:26
Hey Folks,
Once again, I throw myself upon the mercy of the forum... I almost have the bike ready for the season. I'm wondering about one thing tho. When I put the bike in neutral or pull the clutch and push it seems to be hard to push... it will roll, def not 'in gear'... perhaps I'm just weak from a winter of atrophy. it is a 500 lber after all...
Speaking of weight, what is the max lbs one can safely haul? I'm a lil guy (165), but I female friend of mine who outweighs me...is begging for a ride. I'd rather not test my skills, but if I have to, what is the max a 1977 kz can take before it drags arse

My wife and I come to a healthy 350 together. My rear shocks are set to 3 and we've yet to bottom out. The bike seems to do just fine with the additional weight.

Check your brake adjustment they may be hanging up.
My owners manual does not list a max weight of passengers, but under the seat it says to pump up the rear tire to 36psi for weights between 200-315lbs. That 315lb figure is a combined rider/passenger weight.

Maybe it needs a new chain?
I just bought a 80 KZ750E yesterday, and the chain is rusted so tight that it takes be and my Nephew both to push it, and both of us are larger than average guys

does the bike have disc brakes if so check to make shore the caliper is not sticking i just went thru the same problem with my 83 750L3 the front caliper was sticking and made it almost impossible to push the bike.i pulled it apart and cleaned everything and it works good and moves easy by hand.

I carry my girlfriend on my bike and I am 157 and she is 163. O the bike is my SR650, yep my little 650. I set the rear shocks to the last setting for good luck. So tell us how much do you mean by outweighing, cos I tell ya anything close to 200 and you will need a bigger bike. My mother is like 180 or a little less and the 1000 got up and going quite well.

Interesting, I'm 235 and my wife (good thing she don't read this forum) is ~165, she don't particularly like to ride, but when she has it's been with me on my 750 twin.
It strained a little taking off from a stop, but it had a 17 tooth front sprocket instead of the stock 16.
