from 1000 to 1100?

OK, so I've been posting alot lately and this is do to having some issues with compression and oil burning.

So after replacing the rings, valve stem seals and gaskets the bike was not running properly, so...

I went ahead and bought a new head and cylinder block with pistons. the head is obviously a kz1000J head and the pistons and block came from a 82 1100, both purchased on ebay and I think I saved a few bucks and got a great deal!

So here is the question, I should'nt have any
problems bolting these parts on my 1996 kz1000p?
and in turn making it an 1100 right? I know the head and the pistons and block all match, but i'm afraid that i'll have issues with the piston rods not matching the pistons.

17mm piston pins on the KZ1000P and 17mm piston pins on the 81-82 Kz/GPz 1100.

Is that what you wanted to know :)

So when I do this swap I'm assuming that the motor will be an 1100 right?

yes it will be the same displacement as the 1100 because the 1100 and the 1000 have the same stroke. but if you want to get technical, some 1000s are actually 1015cc and others(i believe the "J" series) are 998cc. your 1100 will actually be 1089cc, just like every other kz/gpz1100 IIRC

or whatever size they actually were, they tend to round things off!:P although i have noticed you can put 900 emblems on a bike with a 1327 in it ! ;) while the topend is apart with the pistons off try dropping the cylinder down on there to see if you need to clearance the cases for the sleeves;)

He is building a engine for a 1996 with parts from 80-83 bikes.
I thought that was a completely different series, with no parts interchange.
Is that true?
