Paling1 yep that is the 77 650 C-1. The exhaust fitted up to it real well, the centerstand is still functional and the passenger pegs will work as well. Since it does not have an oil cooler like the 750 L-3 I have, there was no issues to deal with there. The rear mounting bracket has yet to be made, I'm planning to mount it to the rear shock like you did. I haven't really ridden it a lot yet I've currently got a pooched rectifier and I still need to do the WG coil mod but the bike seems to like the exhaust and I love the quiet :) . It took me a couple of weeks of looking at it mocked up on the bike while being held in place with zip ties and rope to decide if this was how I wanted to go, it is a big departure from the old system styling wise.

That's exactly how I did it...(I also did some swearing  )
Styling wise it isn't too bad is it?
I do like the look of the old Kerker-style megaphones though... but hey, you can't have it all... (or can you:evil: )
I know Muzzy has a megaphone exhaust for the ZRX1100 and 1200, and it looks realy cool and oldschool.

Paling1 no styling wise I don't think it looks too bad, it does take some getting used to though. My tastes are so old school that I never would have thought to use this system and until you made your original post about using this I wasn't even aware that Kawasaki still made the air cooled 750 in 2002. I could have just put some kind of header system on it but I just don't like the noise. Besides now my "650 Custom" is truly custom it's sort of neat having a one of a kind bike.

So Gringo, does this clear the oil drain plug? I have a 4-into-1 that says Yoshimura on it (not sure if it is really Yosh or if the PO just stuck a badge on it) and it makes it impossible for me to change my oil without removing the exhaust!

I have a 4-1 yoshimura on my 700 . I had to remove the center stand. I kept the rear passanger peg with a bit of removal of rubber. It sits just high enough that it wont burn. Yes I do have to remove the exaust for an oil change.

Hmmm. If you mean the one in your avatar, it doesn't look quite the same as mine:

My bend looks closer to the header than yours. But I am missing the centerstand too. I didn't notice any problem with the passenger peg.

Is there a 4-1 that doesn't interfere with something?

Well they are diffrent bikes. The exaust does look a bit thinner that yours. It just says yoshimura racing parts. No letter or numbers on it that I can see. I noticed the passenger peg was smoking , so I decided to put some space between them.

Joey that was a good question and I'm embarrased to say that I actually had to go look at the bike to see. I sort of figured that since it is a stock Kaw exhaust that changing the oil would not be an issue and after a quick look I'm happy to say it will be no problem to get at either the drain plug or the filter.

Very cool! Then this is an option to keep in mind if I want to change the headers.

I really like the idea of a stainless steel exhaust. The ones shown so far look really nice! Since mine got all tore up in the wreck I'm looking for a new exhaust anyway but.... I like to have a passenger and I also like having my center stand.

Do you all know of anything of any later model stainless ones that would work?

As far as I know the only other exhausts than the ZR-7 that would fit the old KZ's, is the Zephyr exhaust.
But the standard Zephyr exhaust is not stainless steel!

So you have to look for an aftermarket system.
Muzzy has a very nice looking full stainless steel system for the ZR-7, and I'm sure there are many brands that make one for the Zephyr, and maybe even for an old KZ. But they may be hard to find for a decent price...

If you really want to spend some cash, you could also look out for some titanium pipes. They are very popular in Japan, but I have seen prices of about $2000...

The ZR-7 pipes and Remus silencer cost me about 125 euro's (about $170) in total. And they looked like new...
