i had that sprocket cover off the other day and tried to pull the starter out and it didnt want to move so i just left it. i took off side cover, top cover, and 2 or 3 bolts holding it in but im guessing it can get jammed on the gear in there pretty good. is that all i need to do to get it out??

The starter is a tight fit in its hole with a big O-ring on it to keep the oil out. You should be able to tap the right side end of it and start is rocking to get it out
