Can a 1300 be swapped into a 86 kz1000p was created by goodeatingill
My kz1000p is fouling plugs like mad, and burning oil, so I think its pretty shot, so I am looking for a new motor, and I found a 1300 for cheap and was wondering how hard that swap would be, or if its even possible, what I would need to do or buy. Or if anyone has any other good ideas for what to do with it,
thanks

only if its a 1327 kit from ape,i dont think you are gonna have much luck shoving 6 cyl in your frame;)

Anything is possible, but it's going to be an awful lot of work to stick a six cylinder water cooled shaft drive motor in that frame :)

It would be a whole lot easier and cheaper to just buy a used J motor.

And you could rebuild yours and soup it up a little.

I would pretty much rebuild my engine instead of going where no one or very few people have gone before. Just oil seals in head and possibly valve guides and rings and whatever needs to be done alone with new rings and thats mostly it. New gaskets and you are sealed. Then your carbs need work, changing of jet size or air/fuel mix. I would go with rebuild... right away!

I guess I was thinking a little too big, Where is the best place to find a basic rebuild kit, and is it a pain, or do they go pretty smoothly, I really am needing this bike for 2 or 3 more seasons, not forever,
thanks

If you rebuild it you can increase the sale price and learn a thing or 8 about fixing these beloved machines. I did and now I don't think I can let go of my 650. Take it from me, good advise. I wish I had a cop bike right now....... with a real cop fairing!

just mail your J motor to me, that'll force you to insert that 1300 some how.

I wish my bike still had the fairing, but I wreked the bike and ruined all the goodies, they protected the actual bike though, which I guess is what they were for. Where is the best place for a rebuiild kit, and what should I be looking for in the kit
Thanks
