Should my bike have those copper washers on all 4 of the head bolts on the sides???????

nope just outside 2 on each side where the oil passages are;)

sorry i meant on both head bolts on either side. But anyways you are saying that all four of them should Have copper washers. and if so where could I get them and how much.

the 2 on each end of head.if you still have old ones you can heat them up with a torch and drop them in a bucket of water to swell the copper washers back up.if not z1 enterprises has them

someplace around here has them, I just can't remember who. All the nuts need them or they will come loose. Then oil leaks appear and the base gasket gets pounded out.

The two outside studs on the sides sit in oil journals. You need the copper (or whatever they are) washers on the outside studs to keep oil from leaking. The other studs need washers but they can be steel washers. The early Z1/KZ models used copper on all of the studs but in the later KZ1000s, only the outer studs had copper and the inner are steel.
