where did my air filter go? FUNNY! was created by 84kz700
Well the other day I was just riding the ole' kz700 (like any other day) and my dad was like "let me see what this things got", so he got on it and was riding down the road (keep in mind he's used to his kz1000) so he opened the kz700 up in first gear and brought the front wheel off the ground, well when he came to the stop sign the bike was stuck wide open! Well we shut it off and brought it into the garage, and when I removed the seat to check out the carburetors I realized that the junk foam rubber air cleaner was missing! I looked into the second carburetor and it was full of foam rubber! So I used a shop vac and sucked most of the air cleaner out of the carburetor and I fired the bike back up and it was smoking out of the left bank/ first two cylinders and it was shooting foam out of the exhaust but after a few minutes it ran the air cleaner out of the motor! So now the kz700 has an after market air filter and runs great! SO I guess that the whole foam rubber idea was a bad thing on Kawasaki side! I was surprised however that it actually sucked that whole foam rubber air filter through the carburetors!

The same thing happened to my wifes '96 VN750 Vulcan after she dropped it in some gravel at a stop sign.
The 11 year old foam filters literally disintegrated and got sucked into both carbs! :pinch:
You had it lucky, ever try to pull and clean the carbs on a Kawi V-twin?
A total nightmare! :S

You own a Honda?!?
Get 'em boys!
The first time I removed/cleaned/reinstalled the carbs it turned into an entire weekend-long project, the second time (don't ask! :pinch:) I had it all done in less than a day.
I still have the bruised knuckles, patch of hair missing and a wrench impaled into the garage wall to prove it too!
