Well have you?

was having starter clutch problems on my 750, so i pulled it apart today and found this, plus 2 of the 3 bolts were loose.

i think it could have ended in tears.

Kz750 starter clutches are the same as KZ400 ones. They were not designed to spin over a 750. Fix it, and it will break again. Get good at kick starting the bike...just watch your shins.

How much of a PITA would it be to convert/add a kickstarter to my '81 750 LTD? Just from the sound of the starter engage/disengage, I expect to find trouble...

Ouch! Mine just sheared the bolts out of it. There's a scrapyard here in Columbus that has the clutch available, but I'm not sure how much. CJhansen2 is right on with the 400. Sucks that they got rid of the kick start in later models. I kick mine when it's cold and only use the electric once it's warmed up.

Here's the link to that scrapyard. They can be a bit pricy, but I've always found what I needed.

im starting to think the reason it has the sheet steel sheild around the actual solid piece is because kawasaki was expecting it to break. because it kept it all in there.
