ok, when building a high performance 900-1000-1100 what tricks do you use to increase the oiling ability and capacity of your kawi, i'v been eyeballing some deep sump oilpans and was curious as to if any company ever produced a high volume oilpump?

and is a stock oilsystem good enough for an high performance engine that will see 8k's often?

i know you can dril out oil passage holes on a buick 455 and make it capable of handling 550hp of abuse, anything i can do to increase my 1000j?

anyone recommend modifying a stock pan into a deep sump or is this failure waiting to happen?

I had very good luck with a high performance engine and a deep sump conversion. I am lowering my bike now though and went to a stock pump and pan with a gate to keep the oil where it's needed. The deep sump pans hang lower but mine was still working great when I pulled it. I've heard of pump mods but nothing specific that I could find. I took mine apart and checked clearances according to the manual and put it back together.

Funny, I was just about to post something similar to this...

I wanted to put the oil cooler on my 1000J, and an older guru in town said to do something with the oil pump because they were known for being so weak. He's an old mech from the early 80's that used to work on the old cop bikes.

Is there another )better) oil pump that will slap in or will I have to do some more research?

I run the 82 1000 J in the summer out here (110+deg) and wanted to keep the thing from exploding.

On are 1570cc Pro Stock KAWA we use the stock oil system and never have a problem, I also use it on my own person bike which is 1975 z1 900 which is a 1197cc with all the lil goodies in it, and I don't have any problem.
