1977 KZ650-B1 frame and engine. Random pile of parts for the rest.
Oil System Parts... was created by hobodan
Hello again everyone!
I am trying to get my engine to point where i can get it started. It is a 1977 KZ650 and it has been sitting for a long time. I am missing some parts that belong to the oil pan and i was wondering if any of you know where i can get the parts.
I have found a couple of them on the Z1 website, but not quite everything.
Here is the diagram from the kawasaki parts site:
Here is the list of stuff it needs:
18 - 2 "0" RINGs,90MM
19 - the oil pan gasket.
22 - The oil plug, but i can probably get a bolt that fits...
27 - SHIM-KICK SHAFT?
28 - SPRING,OIL FILTER
29 - PLATE,OIL FILTER
30 - the oil filter cover.
31 - the oil filter bolt assembly.
I can probably get the gaskets and o rings from the dealership, but i dont know if they still carry anything that old!
Any help you guys can give would be great! I really appreciate it!

18 - 90mm o-rings...STP and Fram oil filters come with the o-rings for both the filter cover and filter bolt.
So I'd suggest just hitting up your local auto parts (Kragen, Auto Zone, Checkers, etc) and stocking up on a few of those filters (about $4 each) and swip the o-rings from them. FWIW, those o-rings don't need to be replaced every time the filter is changed.
Beats spending about $6+ for the 90mm o-ring from the dealer, and you'll have a supply of oil filters for later use as a bonus.
19 - Oil pan gasket...check eBay, as they show up on there for about $10+ shipping. Expand your search on eBay, as that gasket also fits all years of the GPz750 and ZR750 Zephyr, and I believe all years/models of the KZ750's, as well.
27 - SHIM-KICK SHAFT?....That "shim" is basically just a thin washer, it keeps the spring (28) from pushing up into the filter and preventing it from filtering properly.
28 - SPRING,OIL FILTER
29 - PLATE,OIL FILTER
30 - the oil filter cover.
31 - the oil filter bolt assembly.
You can try your luck on eBay for these as well.
If you want though, I have extras of all of them that are yours for whatever shipping will cost.
