For pete's sake, don't tell people that! We need to keep this secret to ourselves...I'm finding out that 32mm shims are not that available.....
Seriously, they are seriously rare. I know a local guy who has a stock of them, and I'm his only customer for the darned things, and he charges just under $20 each with tax. I ran into him at a show and asked if he'd sell me his whole stock... he laughed... I said, "any price"... he got serious and said, "no way"... That's scary...

So, I called my parts guy up earlier in the week and told him I needed 32mm shims for my bike. He questioned me about the size and I measured mine w/an inch scale ruler and told him it came in at about an inch and a quater. Anyway he looked in his book and largest he could find were 29 and 29.5mm. I told him I was pretty sure that they were 32's and he said he'd try to find what I needed. I went over there today and he was still taking heads apart to find the sizes I needed, finally he found a second 2.75. After he gave them to me we chatted a bit and he mentioned that they were 29.5's. He said that 32's didn't exist and I probably mismeasured. He didn't charge me anything but I think we can safely assume that he's not going to be able to come up w/the 32's.
So, Steell, what would it take to open up that safe deposit box and part w/one of your 2.60's

My pleasure, man.Man, thanks Toast! With you talking about a guy getting $20 a shim and Steell talking about lock boxes I thought they would be impossible to get ...
I happened to have needed a 2.40 that time, so Jeff didn't have that particular size...
By the way, I have a permanent watch on eBay for them, and I will (and have) bid aggressively against you (anyone) for them...

:)Thanks again for the comments and link, they really helped. I don't think you have to worry about getting into a bidding war w/me:) but now I'm wondering if I should call Jeff tomorrow, before he ships my order, and add another set of, the next smaller, shims. Do you think it would be a wise thing to do?ronjones wrote:

PS I may have a line on another 750 and 250 from balt CL. Another project? Dont know the details yet but it sounds like he just wants to get rid of them. Think I've been bitten by the "Kbug"?

Wise? Yes. Possible? No....but now I'm wondering if I should call Jeff tomorrow, before he ships my order, and add another set of, the next smaller, shims. Do you think it would be a wise thing to do?...
I contacted him about that a while back. He told me that he only has what is posted on the site, so nothing smaller than 2.60... Alas...
