Muffler replacement?

I purchased two new aftermarket mufflers today. Got a good price on them. Looked at the bike and the parts diagram on bike bandit, how will I let go the old mufflers? Hacksaw them off just ahead of the old ones,is the only way that I can see. Is there another way to do it? 1977 kz650 B1. Any info. apprec.

Actually, a hacksaw takes too long. My fave is a metal-cutting blade on my circular saw.;)

Thnk's for the saw trick. I still need to know the best place to make the cut. I don't want to take the exhaust off any more,as I recently replaced the cly.head. Aparently these new mufflers attach to the bike at the rear foot pegs. A couple in's short of the orig. ones, but I think they will work.VOOM<VOOM.

What effort has been made toward simply loosening and pulling the old mufflers off without ruining the header pipes? Or am I misinterpreting the problem here?

Patton has a good point.

The original mufflers on the early (and later as well I believe) 650's are clamped onto the header pipe just behind the cross-over tube, relative to just about where the sidestand is located on the frame.
Just remove the screws holding the "beauty covers" onto each side of the mufflers, and you'll find the clamps there.

If the rear mounting holes on the "new" mufflers you bought line up good, it shouldn't take more than about 10 mins total to swap them out. ;)
