Should I start hitting my head against the wall now or later?
Now. Definitely now. Definitively now, before Florida and Oregon tip off in the Nairobi Handball Final Four tipoff.
That way, I can watch your head explode AND catch the game.
Call Vegas, and ask 'em what the odds are your valve guides/seals are seeping a bit, collected some oil in the exhaust side, and once you fired up the motor it made a pretty fair example of an airshow smoke rig.
Since you're not allowed out of the driveway anyhow, pull it outside, make suire the oil level is okay, and rid the neighboorhood of gnats for half an hour or so.
Run it awhile, it's more than likely fine, but moderately tired - sooner or later, it's a top end job in the crystal ball, but not necessarily next week.

Seems odd that it should be tired...5000kms? But, the guy I bought it from was a wheeler deeler...
Really doesn't need to be tired *miles-wise* as much as *time-wise*. Remember, that bike is old enough that you *could* have wound up a spot on it's seat cover...
Whatever synthetic rubber compound the seals are made of hardens over time. As the better part of South El-Lay has found out to it's everlasting dismay, hard rubber don't seal too good.
So, it's nobody's fault - it's just an age thing.
At least, that's what IK keep telling myself.
