Bad News(?) No 3 Cyl
21 Mar 2007 13:06
Well guys I am the proud owner of a brand new, Deelux, Pro-fessional compression test gauge. I only did a preliminary, dry compression test late last night. I have not had a chance to investigate any further yet, concerning other tests or consequences of what I have done. Compression, after ten cycles on each cylinder is:
1) 135 lb
2) 124 lb
3) 89 lb
4) 129 lb
Oh, Dear!
1) 135 lb
2) 124 lb

4) 129 lb

I deduced that a single cylinder valve issue is more fleasible than a single cylinder ring issue. I must head back off to work at 9P, so will not get to do anything further today.
I just bought the gauge and, while I have read over proper procedure for performing compression tests in the KZ info section, I have not actually studied it.
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed if you will.
BTW, do I need to pick up some gaskets before I crack the valve covers?

Thanks BSKZ650, and I hope,,,err I KNOW you are right. I thought about it a bit today, and just from sheer genius logic, check the valves, may have a tight one

you can likely re-use the old gasket if you dont break it taking the cover off
