Auto cam tensioner was created by Kzbatty
Is there any way to manually tighten the cam chain if you have an auto tensioner, short of cracking the case and putting on a new chain, or pinning a new one in? I have a loose chain noise and I have consulted my manual, but there isn't anything in there about tightening it up, just removal and installation.

you can reset it if it says how in your manual, i know it does in some. otherwise no dice, get an APE manual.

I checked with Z1 I didn't see one listed, so I inquired if they have one for my '83 KZ1100-L LTD.
What about replacing the chain? I have read in the archives that splitting the chain is not really advisable. Is that still the general consensus?

You can see the manual tension on the APE website... it is for the J motor. The tensioner is pretty much the same as the one for the 903/1015 but the mount part is a bit different shape.
