cleaning engin

the allum on my engin is dull and has a white powder like dust on it how can i clean it and is there anything i can polish the alum with 1980 ltd 1000

I've been using this stuff called never dull. Comes in a can, looks like a cotton wad soaked in something. Works good on flat surfaces at least.. Not sure you could use it on an engine where you couldnt really get at everything with your fingers. Anyway, I got it at advanced auto parts. Worked great on my left side cover over that chain etc.
