I'm trying to set my kz 1000 up for an air shifter.I recently acquired the over shift bushing.only problem now is I don't know where it goes. figured I better ask before I start tearing stuff apart.thanks to anyone that knows

Hope I can describe this clearly...
If you look at the shift mechanism, you will see a stamped steel piece that looks sort of like the letter F. When a shift is made, this piece, backs up to allow the shift drum to turn. Problem is it can back up too far allowing the drum to turn too much.

There is a small boss behind this piece. You will notice that if you put your overshift bushing on this boss, it will limit how far the "F" piece can back up.

Does this make sense?

also there are 2 different sizes of overshift bushings if I remember right

i run an airshifter on my z1000j, do these need an overshift bushing. it looks like it would go over the shift rod that controls the lower 3 gears.
