I wouldn't use carb cleaner, that will remove all lubrication, I use kerosene.

Kerosene is pretty much the same as #1 diesel, and if you are in the cold country the diesel sold at the pump is a mixture of #1 and #2 (with additives to prevent jelling), so yes, Diesel will work just fine

Man, I'm just a little more conservative. I'd recommend ATF. It's real oil, witha whole lot of detergents. Especially if you've got a couple of quarts that are so old they aren't rated for your wive's cage tranny, PERFECT. The problem with diesel and kerosene is that they both have solevent characteristics.
In fact, wasting a bottle of 10w-30 would be even better, 'cause you're not looking for solevent, you just want an inside-of-the-engine rinse, and what better than the motor oil that's meant to be used for that?

wd-40? super!! it this ok to use, and wont hurt any other parts inside of case? sounds good to me, good pressure (with straw) and very thin as to run out bottom of case, just what i need. just wanted to get a second opinion on it before i ruined any internal parts!
all i really need is peice of mind that i can get dirt of crank and drive chain in case, it seems that the dirt from the cyclinder block studs fell in as i lifted it of the case,(common) as well as some small pices of gasket also. any advice for milage of oil change? i WILL change oil about 10-15 miles (is this good) afterwards and then agian around 40-50 just be be shure!
if i get the ok to use wd-40 its a done deal and thanks for the second opinion in advance!!!

How about starting with air to blow it out ?
If you dont have a compresser ,
what about a can of canned air for cleaning out computers ?
With a piece of windshild washer hose over the straw it should get just about everything loose out .
