Will a 650 motor fit a 550 frame ???

i was at a friends bike shop picking up some tires today & looking for cool parts for my 650 superbike project. i found a complete kz1000 front end & while scrounging around i saw 2 gpz/550 parts bikes. he said i could have one of the frames if i stripped off all the parts. this would look way cooler than the csr setup i have now & this is the way we did it back in the day, bigger motors in smaller frames.this is a swap ive never done before so will it work ? is it a bolt in or does it require some mods ? thanks again for any info......snake

The 650 will not just bolt into a 550. The 650 and 750-4 are interchangeable for the most part, but the 550 is smaller.

thanks for the info. there is a 750 frame there too he said i could have. i might go that route.

id see if you can find a kz650 frame to build off of

yeah, im working on that too. an old school buddy of mines dad has a kz650 parked in his workshop / bike graveyard. im gonna give him a call.
