I have a 1977 kz 650. I'm swapping a top end off another kz650 engine. I was wondering if their is a way to test the valve seals while I have the head off. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks-alex

lay the head on its front or back with ports on a flat surface.now fill the ports that are pointing up with solvent take an air hose with a blower on it and blow air around the edge of valves and seats where they meet.look for bubbles in the solvent in the ports then flip head over and repeat.this isnt 100%,but it will give you an idea what you have to work with ;)

I'm wondering if oil from the stem is leaking down. I tested the valve seat and they seem good, but am wondering if the valve stem seals are worn.

I know the valves are seating, but was wondering about the valve seal. Would removing buckets and pouring solvent on top valves work?
