Oil capacity for 1982 KZ550C3?

I can't find this spec anywhere in my CLymer's guide and my oil fill window is all black. The only way I can think of to get this right is to fill it exactly the first time. Thanks for any help!

If it's black on the outside, strip the paint on the sight glass so you can see thru it (important!!).
If it's black on the inside, clean with solvent, steel wool, scotch brite etc, or replace if necessary. You can buy just the sight glass for replacement or find the whole cover used somewhere...fleabay maybe?

No Neil, it's like this:

Remove the side cover, and using a small piece (redundant?) of tissue and a toothpick, push the tissue inside the sightglass area with the toothpick, and clean the window. Pick your teeth with the other end you were holding onto, unless your hands were dirty from removing the side cover.

Doth mine ears hear some sarcasm? :D Well, it wound up that the oil was overfilled and had a strong odor of fuel.

Sounds like a good carb rebuilding and float needle replacement, with float height setting is in the works.

Neil and I have known eachother thru here and www.gpz550.com for years(that's more than 1)
