I want to open up my stock 750 twin's exhausts. They are in top condition, so I don't want to swap them, but the bike is just too quiet, like riding a sewing machine about. The loudest noise is the chains running the countershafts!

Can I just punch a sharpened rod up the middle, or am I going to break something that will then rattle and ruin the whole thing?

Just want some advice before I take the plunge.

Steve

Hey Steve, I'm not trying to rain on your parade bud, but I'd shy away from ramrodding those stock pipes. If you don't like them the way they are, I'm sure someone would pay good money to have a good set of stock pipes and you could then use your proceeds to buy a nice aftermarket set that meet your Decibel needs:evil:

Don't do it man! If it's truly a stock system, and it's truly nice, you could sell it on eBay to a collector and buy 50 loud systems....

I have been thinking of some long Dunstall-style reverse megaphone mufflers, but I'll need new headers, which are quite pricey. The originals pipes are currently in storage in the roof of the garage, I figure one day I may restore back to original, so I'll need them.

Now, where can I get some headers? I have found an eBay mob sellinf 2-2 systems, but will not sell just the headers, and I have no need for more mufflers round the shed!

All help greatly apprecated. Steve.
