650 to 750 exhaust?
14 Feb 2007 09:39
would a set of Jardine 4-2 headers for a 78 KZ650 B2 fit on a 80 KZ750E? Each header pipe is separate, and connect to the turn out mufflers. Probably a long shot, I know.

The exhaust port openings are the same.
The most you will probably have to deal with is where/how the individual mufflers will mount at the rear of the bike.

making/modifying where the mufflers mount isn't a big deal, as I have access to a plasma cutter and welder.
My main concern was the exhaust port size and the routing of the pipes. they are the crossover design, so I am wondering about frame clearance, etc.
1-4 out right side, and 2-3 out left.
Thanks for the info so far R4!

I'm wondering about the frame from a 78' 650 matching mine. If the frame from a 78 is the same as your's, then I think everything would fit, especially if a 750E set would fit on your 650. may have to fab some new brackets, but that;s easy enough.

If the center stand recess is all that would cause a problem, I'd just lose the centerstand all together;)
It's far from stock at this point anyway. The only hesitation is that I'd have to buy the set up, wait for them to get shipped here, then mock them up to see if they'd work or not. That's a bit of a risk that I'm trying to find justification to take.:S
Thanks for all the info thusfar!
