J model trans vs. shaft drive

Does the shaft drive trans have the same gear ratios as the J model? If they are, can you take the gears from a shaft drive trans, remove them from there shafts and put them onto the older Z1/Kz trans shafts?
The reason i ask is i want the J model trans because the gear ratio's are higher than the older Z1/Kz trans. Meaning less rpms at highway speeds. Any help would be great.

I'm not sure about gearing and all that, but wouldn't it be more practical (unless you already have your trans apart) to just swap out sprockets to change your gearing? I can't imagine the changes with internal gearing are that drastic.. unless you only want a slight change that would be less than dropping or adding a tooth.
That being said, I think the gears would work, but are the different ratios? No clue.
ps- where can I see a bigger resolution pic of your avatar image?
