Did anybody ever try wiredgeorge's recommendations on repowering coils via automotive relay? I'm going to give it a shot if I can find out which kind of relay, kind of auto, and where it is located in the vehicle. If anybody knows, email me or better still post on the forum.

I did it using a relay bought in Canadain Tire that was for adding lights to a vehicle. Mine was a 5 pin relay with two #87 outputs. They also had a 5 pin pigtail for this relay which helped in wiring it up.

WIREGEORGE Has the best solution & it used to be on his site ,but it's not there anymore . It is simple to wire the coils through a standard automotive relay,That way the starter wont rob current from the coils.Go to your auto parts store & ask to see a fuel pump relay for a 1995 ford van.almost all of these relays have tha wireing diagram on the side & you can fgure out from there what is going to work.

Yep, seriously. Do it. You won't regret it. Here's a recent thread on it with a link (in my post) to a great place to buy the relays and pigtails online....

what if your electric start is totally disconnected...no loss of current there...couldn't i just run a hot wire from the fuse block or the starter relay??

Yes.
The Relay is powered from the starter relay solenoid, with a in-line fuse, to pin #30 on the relay, in WG's coil rewire.

Wiring it up using a relay still allows the kill switch to work, being able to turn the relay on and off. The power does not flow through the kill switch anymore, causing loss of power, but the kill switch still can kill the circuit.
Without the relay, and wiring directly to the coils, you would not have an off/kill switch. I suppose you could wire something up, but now your talking an other set of wiring circuits to figure out.
