interchangeable heads. was created by DaytonaMC
i was just wondering if heads for a 1977 kz1000 would fit a 1979 kz1000 and vice versa? i looked on kawasaki.com and found parts diagrams and the p/n is different but, i was wondering if they supercede and, were in fact interchangeable.thanks

1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

All heads from 1973-1980 Z1's and KZ's will interchange. Thing to look for is if the '79' is a MK11...like wireman says about the cam sprockets.

any of them will fit, just use your cams so you know you have cam sprockets that match your sprocket on crank;)

A MK11 head will fit your motor, it's just that you would need MK11 cam sprockets to go with the MK11 crank(more teeth on crank center pin so cam sprockets need to be MK11), otherwise it will work. Just use you stock cams, etc. in the MK11 head. Any head from '73-80' will work on your motor, even the MK11. Yes...it will fit without modifications.

What makes you think it is a MK11 head on your 650?
