It sounds like a good deal. See if the forks can be rebuilt instead of getting new ones, cos the seals don't cost much and as for conversion from shaft to chain, I've heard it can be done, but its alot of work. Try search forum just above and you will be sure to fund something, but I tell ya as long as that engine runs, You are good to go!

Good bikes; I had one, and then an '84 LTD version. Yes, you can convert the drive, but as noted: lots of work: you will have to split the cases, so a total tear down to fit the necessary parts.
If the forks are bent I'd have them straightened, if you need seals, just do that too; if they're "beyond repair" you might try to source a front end...shouldn't be too hard to find on 'the bay'. If you can't find a set I've probably got a set of forks for you. But eBay should have something cheap.

While $300 sounds like a really good deal, the fact that the forks and front wheel are bent throws up a red flag in my opinion.
I'm guessing that it was crashed.
If the impact was severe enough to bend the wheel and front forks, chances are it might have also bent the frame. :pinch:
But for only $300, you could always part it out on eBay and make money on the deal.

why convert it? i think shaft drive is just fine. no chain lube, adjustment...etc. just service drive gear oil and go. my opinion of course.

I have an 83 1100 shaft and I wouldn't change it to chain for anything. It requires almost no upkeep compared to a chain, it runs smooth. And the best part is the mirrors are sooooo clear on it I can always see the look of disapointment on the faces of all the "chopper" boys when I go flying past them on my kawi.

Stresser. I'm interested. My brother called on that one too. The guy said it needed a front end and that he hadn't started it in a while since the exhausts was pinched. After hearing that my bro decided if that much damage was evident he wasn't interested anymore. If you went to see it......or bought it...what was the real condition? If it was good I can bust on bro. If it was bad I can boost him up for the next time I bust on him. It's a brother thing!
