All Valve Clearance (cold) 0.003 - 0.007 in.(0.08-0.18mm)
The clearance on your intakes are close, and will get smaller. I would reshim those. The exhaust looks ok for now.

You have a 650, visit the link at the bottom of my signature.

It depends what your procedure was for checking clearance. There are varying opinions on the way to check clearances. The way I do it and was told to do it by a factory Kawasaki mechanic (factory Kawasaki, not a dealership mechanic), was to check clearance on each valve as you slowly rotate the engine with a 17mm socket and check throughout the entire cam rotation for the point the largest feeler will fit and only use feelers in the same size increments as the shims. So start with a .10mm feeler and turn the engine over while constantly trying to insert the feeler. If it goes in anywhere thoughout the rotation, try a .15mm. If it does not go in throught the rotation, you know the clearance is between .10-.15mm right where you want it. Most guys valves are set too loose by just checking clearance at the one point where the lobe is pointing away from the bucket. No use and a complete waste of time using any feelers not sized in .05mm increments. Only use a .05, .10, .15, .20 ect.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Yeah I notcied that the clearances differ slightly if you do it that way, so I measured them all three times and I am sure each lobe was at a slightly different angle each time i measured each valve. I also would use two two gauges to try and get a closer easurement (i.e. using a .06 and .07 together to get .13 measurement).

Anyways, I have been having trouble with firing in the 2 and 3 cylinders and thought I would check valve clearances and though the 1 intake seems tight it fires strong and hot when I ride, so I am thinking the 2-3 problem is electrical, but is a .06 measurement on the #1 intake something I should deal with right now or is it okay for a little while?
