Springtime in the Rockies

We have a warm stretch right now, so it's riding time again. Today was 17c or 63f and the roads are drying out nicely. The backdrop is the Stanford Range in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

I was out this afternoon for a short ride from my home near Kamloops on my newly restored Z1B. Today was the fourth ride...still working out a few rebuild errors. That's another one in my Avatar.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

You guys in Kamloops must have just been through the same brutal 5 weeks as we have. In 30 years we've never had it so cold for so long, so an early spring is very welcome around here. Now if they could just do something about all of the sand/gravel still on the roads!

Ps your 900 looks great!

Weather here was warm up until January, then cooler until this week. We have had similar temps to yours so I thought I would get this bike out on the road to see how it performs. I've been working the kinks out after roughly 2 and a half years of restoration. Just minor stuff....loose bolts, speedo cable etc. Yesterday I had to replace the oil pan gasket that was torn during installation. Where exactly are you located?

I'm in Windermere. How long have you had the Z1B? Do you still have the one in your avatar, too?

I bought the red one in 2014 from Medicine Hat. It was running but was in poor shape. Took some time and work to bring it back.

I bought the blue one in the fall of 2016 in Nanaimo. It wasn't running and was in very poor shape. Much better now.

I also have a 1980 KZ1000 LTD. And a KZ550 LTD that my wife owns.

Your A1 looks really nice!

Been through Windermere but never stopped there. I live in Chase...just West of Kamloops. Moved here from Squamish about a year ago.

We are pining for the Rockies but will have to wait a few months, B.C. looks beautiful so do your bikes!
It's thawing out here in the Midwest too, I was able to burn up a tank of 3 month old gas and have a nice trouble free loop around the Illinois River, Utica to Morris.
A lot of bikes out yesterday, rainy today :(

Another beautiful day...mid 60s. It's that perfect time after they've swept the roads of the winter gravel that passes for sand and before the bugs are splatting your visor!
Lake Windermere is in the background.

Thanks. A couple of years ago, I wouldn't have considered using a phone (in my case, a Samsung G7) as my take everywhere camera. The beauty is, you always have it with you when the moment is there.
