Plannin a Route 66 Ride was created by ChopFinger123
Im planning to ride Route 66 either this year or next year with my brother and Im wanting to just camp instead of getting hotels. I was just wondering if anyone else has made this ride on an old KZ and if so do you have any advice for the trip.
Thanks in advance and if anyone else would be interested in joining in on the ride that would awesome. Im planning on riding out of Joplin, MO. My brother rides a Harley so if we could drown out his Harley with our old KZ's that would be a great thing lol. Maybe we could convert another rider to the KZ world. When i get my bike going ill let everyone know when i plan on riding the Mother Road.

If the bike is in good working order I don't see any problem. Depending on the total miles you are going to ride, I would take a set of tools, a couple of tire tubes and mounting irons an oil filter and 4 qts of oil.

Oh, get roadside assistance and a cell phone.

Take some spare fuses. A fuse can go bad for no apparent reason and leave you stranded, and then finding a store with the correct size can take a while. Ed

I to been thinking about a ride. I would like to camp as we'll an thinking of pulling a motorcycle trailer to carry all that I need. Won't need any tire tubes since I will have 17" wheels on maybe a plug kits and a 12v compressor.

Hey that's a road trip I'd love to take! Have you see 'Billy Connolly Route 66' where he rides the complete length on a trike? The book is even better as there's a lot more detail.

I've a dream of flying over with my son, us buying bikes, doing the route then shipping the bikes home.
Just need the lottery win!

Good luck, keep us posted on your plans.
