Re: Chicago ride- kz infernal racket tach cable?
15 Apr 2013 02:55
is there a way to quiet down the kz? is there no electric tach that will work? I have noticed mine is noisy and the youtube videos are noisy. It can't be the wind that is making all that godawful sound.
why...........

Most of the hard engine noise is probably due to the camera being ridgidly mounted to the forks. The motor on the 550 is hard mounted to the frame so there is a direct mechanical path for engine noise. It's like a stethoscope. This also explains why the gear whine is so loud. Notice when the camera comes out of the mount, much of the mechanical sounds go away.
The best solution is to put a microphone in the muffler, or I could just drown out the video sound with some Euro-trash Tekno disco.

Re: Chicago ride- no tach cable. so....

Thanks JR.
BTW, since there is no tach at all, I don't suspect it's the tach cable.
