Ride on Steve! get it while you can, deserts are a funny place, you have bigger swings then we do temp wise.
Yeah there are a bunch of them coming down but the state is close to broke right now, lets see what they do with the new weed tax.
I'm hoping to get a piece of the bridge when it does get taken down, like I said it was built with Carnegie steel and he was only in the business from 1892 to 1901 before he sold out to J.P.Morgan/U.S. Steel

Ok, but please be careful with the cutoff wheel... you don't want that bridge coming down on you! :P

Sunshine and just over 50 degs here in NW Ohio today, not bad for the first week of February! Old bridge over the Maumee River near Waterville, Oh. Rode over the newly opened bridge at the Waterville crossing. The old iron bridge is still standing alongside the new one, but probably not for long. One of the last few in the US engineered and built by Bethlehem Steel. . The 650 is down for some winter maintenance, so I saddled up the next ride in the stable.

Nice! glad you got out, it was warm enough here too but we are going through a thaw and everything is mush so I knuckled down and changed the fork seals, springs and front brakes on the Mrs bike, now it's the Kz's turn for maintenance.
That's a sharp looking Wing but the bridge looks like it has seen better days

Theses are pics taken in Utica IL showing 3 generations of bridges crossing the Illinois river
I'm standing on the original road/ramp to what was a swing bridge, facing the new bridge with old steel bridge slated to come down this year in the background.

That’s a very unique bridge picture , lots of history there. The afternoon sunshine pushed the temps to 57 here today so out I went again. This pic is an old railroad bridge over the Maumee River at Grand Rapids, Oh. There was a railroad club in the area that ran between between Waterville and Grand Rapids for a few years. Lack of funds and local thieves that vandalized their equipment put them out of business I guess. The weather is taking a turn for the worse, so back to hibernation mode again.

Well the Utica bridge is scheduled to implode this coming Thursday, I hope we can get the day off to go watch it come down.

Several states have a Utica, guessing this is Utica Illinois.
This bridge is a late example of a riveted cantilever through truss. Typical of such bridges from the 1960s, the bridge has riveted built-up beams but these lack v-lacing and lattice. The cantilever truss spans consists of 216 foot anchor spans and a main span of 378 feet which includes a 216 foot suspended span. Two steel stringer approach spans are present at each end of the bridge. The bridge retains original pipe railings.
