Just finished a 2 day Iron Butt ride on My 78 KZ 1000 A2A.

1080 miles on day 1 and an additional 480 miles on day 2 for a total of 1560 miles in less than 36 hours. Had a GREAT TIME and made it a charity event raising about $1800 for Sunshine Kids, who's motto is "Making Kids With Cancer Smile".

My wife asked if I've "gotten it out of my system" but I'm already working on planning another run next year.

Looking to hear from anyone else who completed an Iron Butt ride on a vintage Kawi'

That's a heck of a ride mate! You got me beat. The farthest I've ever ridden is about 900 miles, from DC to Tampa, Fl. It took me about 20 hours or so.
I haven't done anything like that on this new bike I have, a 1980 E-2, but I'm looking forward to when I get it fixed up enough for me to! ;)

Getting caught up after the ride. Attached are beginning and ending pics. I do look a little rougher at the end verses the beginning of the ride.
I must say...I can't wait to do another. I traveled from PA to MD, WV, VA, NC, SC, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, and returning to PA. Raising nearly $1800 for kids with cance was a BONUS.

That's a great ride on an old KZ1000. Are you doing all the paperwork to get the BB1500 official through IBA? It looks like only one KZ has ever officially done the BB1500 before. I did two USA 4 corners tours on a KZ1000 and covered 21,180 miles in 26 days total riding but this was way back 20 yrs ago when the bike was not all that old. Also did 4 of our annual 1000 in 24 rides here in Colorado on the KZ1000 way back in the 80s.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Yes I am working on the paperwork for both the SS1000 and BB1500. Hopefully will have it done in the next week. I looked at the lists of riders who completed the SS1000 rides and didn't see many KZ's but didn't realize so few had done the BB1500! The ride was not that difficult and I really had a great time doing it. My only "pains" are a sore sholder and numb fingers on my right hand due to tendonitis and carpel tunnel. Am considering doing the 50CC next year.

That's really great. Best of luck to you. I'll be watching the finisher list for KZ1000 addition.

I live in PA. I traveled from PA through MD, WV, VA, NC, SC, and into GA, turning around at Brunswick Ga and traveling back to Florence SC...1087 miles in just over 18 hours. Spent the night in Florence and hit the road again at 6:00 AM traveling up through SC, NC, crossing VA, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel, through MD and ended up in Lewes DE where the family was vacationing. 1560 miles in 35 hours!
