Just riding to work and back. was created by testarossa
As many of you know, I just got my KZ1000 inspected the other day. I worked my tail off to get it ready to ride to work if the weather allowed. I got lucky on Monday with a warm and rain free day just before the monster cold front rolled in. I had my little datalogging computer hooked up and stashed under the seat to keep track of my mixture for me.

Well the old girl fired up faithfully and off I went into the darkness at 5:00 am. Not running perfect, seems a little lean when you roll on the throttle in the midrange, but seems smooth at a steady state cruise speed.

I got almost to work in the Woodlands, when I spotted a six point whitetail buck on the left side of the road. So I kept a close eye on him. I'm not going down on my first ride to work that way. He ran parallel with me for about 75 yards, and finally took a left into the trees. Made it to work safe.

After work, I rode home and remembered to actually set the computer to log my air/fuel ratio, and rpm. Got home without incident. I still couldn't get a chance to hit any corners very well. I have two sets of switchbacks on my commute, but in the morning, the road was cold and damp spots everywhere so I took it easy. In the afternoon, I get traffic, so I'm stuck going car speed.

At least I can say it's comfortable, handles naturally, and there is no drama in stop and go traffic, crossing train tracks at about 40, or general medium speed riding. :)

I'll be updating my O2 sensor datalogging thread soon. I'm still working out how to mount the throttle position sensor, but I got a good idea yesterday.

That's cool. I wish I could go riding, but the bike is in pieces and we just got 14" of snow in northeast Indiana. BOOO! Mother nature is a beotch. Glad you got to ride it and rate it as a success.B)

cool.....we have a lot of deer...i slow to a crawl on our country road when one runs out....high chance for more or some stray dog running em ect....we have like one week dead on our 3 mile stretch...stupid drivers,,,

fox...bobcat...badger...and the skunks and raccoon ect...you think folks would get the idea and do the limit 45....oh well....

we had a hawk fly out of a low field and pace us on a ride for a few at shoulder high...pretty cool....as important with these bikes is the set up hitting a ton and back down...that is where i learn my changes on a new one...but you know that

keep us posted....

weird thing I've noticed before several times while riding...is that birds really seem to dig bikes. I can think of several times where a bird flys out of nowhere and kinda cruises along with ya. Has anyone else ever noticed this? I've talked to several other people about this and they always act like I'm crazy...probly right.
