Michigan Rides? was created by Glitch
This forum seems to be the best fit for this post, if not feel free to move it.

So it seems to me as a new/newer Kz owner that there is a decent contingent of KZ riders In the West Michigan/ Southwest Michigan area that are active. Has anyone considered setting up a ride or meet and greet seeing as the weather is improving? Not that it's kept any of us off the roads. Myself I'm from the GR area, I'm often out by GVSU, Holland, and Grand Haven.

I personally wouldn't mind getting to meet a few of the local folks. Anyone had similar thoughts?

hey glitch
I live in Kalamazoo. I'm new to KZ's too. Sorta. I've had it for almost a year and it still ain't runnin'. Not the bikes fault, more my own. Yeah, it's a bit of a basket. But I get around pretty good on my cb750 right now. I can let you know where I'm goin if you want-you do the same. Last weekend was camping in Traverse City/Leelanau area. Dude, go ride up there. Seriously world class roads and scenery! I'll probably be layin' semi-low for a while so I can have money and time to get busy on my KZ1000.

I'm in the Holland area. Are either of you planning to attend the Vintage motorcycle show at the Gilmore museum this weekend? Unfortunately weather may be an issue. I have a Z1B entered in the show.

Yeah, I plan on gettin' in on that swap meet as brite and early as possible. What color is your bike? I'd love to check it out. I'll be riding a black with gold stripes '75 cb 750 with clubmans. It's not really nice enough yet for a show like that though. And the kz1000 will be waiting patiently at home for much needed swap meet goodies.

Hey! Where is that show?
I think if the weather permits we will be riding up along the Lake Sunday. Definitely would be interested in meeting up with other kz members. We will be riding up from Chicago so we got as far as St. Joeseph last time. This time I want to push it and hopefully the guys are with me on this so we can put in a good 4-500 mile day.
I think if there is a reason for them like a bike show that might be motivation enough as long as the show is close to the lake.

Kalamazoo is a little over an hour ride from St. Joseph and the Gilmore Museum is about 25 minutes further than Kalamazoo. I've been to the show for the last three years and it should be a solid local turnout. You get to see the museum for the price of the show...supposed to be one of the best vintage car collections in the country! It's pretty fargin cool. The link to the Gilmore should have pretty good directions. You can email me if you need more detail or other local info. From St. Joe to K-zoo I recomend Red Arrow Highway instead of I-94 unless your in a hurry or you really like racing semi's on the freeway.

Sadly I won't be attending this year. My wife and I will be spending our weekend packing. We're starting our move to Holland this coming Friday. looking forward to summer on the lake shore. How ever I'd be up for riding sometime.

Anyone into vintage funny cars. I'm ridin' to Martin 131 Speedway for the funny car Nationals. Lots to see last year, looks to be even more this year, probably even bikes in the brackets at least. Rain is supposed to clear up.
