After 39 years of straping things onto the back of a motorcycle I finally lost a load from my bike on the freeway.

I was on the way to my step-grandsons birthday party.
I had his present, card, my jacket with my camera in the pocket strapped to the rear luggage rack. I was in a freeway construction area when I lost my load.

I got off at the next exit, turned around, had to go about 5 miles back to be able to get back on again. the freeway had concrete barriars lining the freeway when the construction is. The present and card were gone. the jacket with camera where still there.

Heres the pic of the camera:

Damm I loved that camera

Many years ago I was heading south from San Clemente on the San Diego Freeway (IH-5). I had my wife on the back of my Z1B and her purse strap broke. We recovered only her wallet and keys...all else was restructured by traffic :)

Not quite the same but yesterday was windy as hell around here. I went to the next town to get some PVC for a project and saw a pickem-up coming the other way. Felt the side blast of wind and saw a 4 x 8 sheet of 1/2 inch plywood lift off out of the truck and sail like a buzz saw into the oncoming lane. All I could think of was if I had been on my bike and been about 20 seconds earlier I would have been the headless Loco. Then on the way back hole I saw the road littered with what looked like confetti. It went on for about 2 miles. What a frelling mess! Then I see this garbage truck with an open container pulled over and the guy is pulling the tarp cover over his load. I had to go back about 4 hours later and the Town Highway Department was picking all the crap up. So I called the dispatcher and reported the Garbage Company. I hope they get banged for it.

Sorry about your mishap. I remember my bro getting an honorary patch jacket from a bike group and he lost it on a run when he bungied it on a bike. I thought he was going to blow a gasket himself.

The camera was in a zipped up pocket in my jacket so all parts are there. The 2GB SD memory card seems intact but I have not tried it yet. When I got the new Camera I used a 4GB SD Card I already had.

As far as the jacket goes - it has some road rash and is dirty but nothing a good wash won't fix. it was an old "First Gear" jacket
